Resolving to “Be Better” – Part 1: Fit Girl

As 2017 looms upon us, everyone is asking the question “So, do you have any New Year’s Resolutions?”  Most of us will say yes, we do, but the fact of the matter is 2 weeks down the road something is going to happen that will cause our good intentions to derail.  I, for one, have resolved on many a New Year to exercise and eat healthy daily.

Fact of the matter is, I am a failure.  I try so hard, but then I’m too tired, too hungry, or just plain too lazy to keep it up.  So instead of making a resolution this year, I’ve decided to concentrate my efforts on just “being better” than I was last year.  I still want to maintain my health, but I like chocolate, I like cookies, I like REAL bacon and I like potatoes.  So I’m going to eat the foods I love, but I’m going to make better choices about how often I have them and how much I have of them.

I’m going to utilize the tools I’ve been given to help me maintain my portion sizes and consistently eat healthy amounts of the food groups.  I’m going to stay strong and stick with that 21 Day Fix program I started and use that Total Gym in my basement.  I’m going to set a goal to workout at least 3 days a week for 20-30 minutes at a time, but I’m not going to give up on myself if I come home one evening and I’m just too tired to get my workout done.  Instead, I’m going to look ahead and choose to be excited for the new day that’s coming and the next opportunity that is due to arrive.

Because this year I’m choosing to “be better” than I was last year.  I challenge you to do the same.
